This page explains, in plain language, what The Parent’s Cut stores and why. It describes the service as it exists today.

Who accounts are for

The Parent’s Cut accounts are intended for parents and other adults. Children should not create their own accounts. Everything in the app is designed to be set up and managed by a parent.

What we store

Your account. Your email address and authentication details are handled through our existing Supabase infrastructure, which stores and secures your login credentials.

Child profiles. When you add a child, we store only a display name or nickname you choose and the child’s age. Nothing else is required.

Journey activity. We store the titles you save to a child’s Journey and their status — saved, watching, or watched — so the Journey and dashboard work as expected.

Post-watch ratings and notes. When you mark a title watched, we invite you to answer four short questions about how it went for that child — how much they enjoyed it, how engaged they were, how well they understood it, and whether it sparked conversation. You may also add an optional note in your own words. The whole form is optional: skipping it stores nothing, and the title stays marked watched either way. What you do submit is stored with the child’s age at the time, so your dashboard reflects your family’s viewing and so recommendations for that child can take your feedback into account.

Which children watched together. After a title is marked watched, you can tick other children in your family who watched it too. Nothing is recorded for a sibling unless you select them; the result is the same watched status, and a separate feedback form of their own, on each child you chose.

Title suggestions. If you suggest a title for the library, we store what you send — the title, its format, and the optional release year and reason — linked to your account, so we can follow up and consider it for review.

Child profiles do not require an email address, exact date of birth, school information, home address, photograph, or other unnecessary identifying information.

How we use it

Information is used to provide account functionality, personalize a child’s Journey and recommendations, keep accounts secure, and operate and improve the service.

What we don't do

We do not sell personal information. The Parent’s Cut does not run advertising, does not use advertising or behavioural analytics tools, does not build a profile of how you browse, and does not set tracking cookies.

Technical error reporting. Separately from analytics, when something breaks in the app our hosting platform receives a technical error report. That report contains the error message, the technical detail of where the code failed, and the page address it happened on. It does not include your password, your sign-in tokens, your child’s details, or anything you typed into a note, a feedback form or a suggestion. It exists only so faults can be found and fixed.

We use a limited number of service providers to operate The Parent’s Cut. Supabase provides our database and authentication infrastructure and stores account and family data. Resend delivers transactional emails such as account-confirmation and password-reset messages. Our application is deployed using Lovable. These providers process information only as needed to provide their respective services.

Children's privacy

The service is designed for parent use. Children should not independently create accounts or submit personal information through The Parent’s Cut. Child profiles are created and controlled entirely through the parent’s account: a parent can view, edit, or remove a child profile and its Journey activity at any time.

Deleting your information

You can remove a single child at any time from your account page. Removing a child also removes that child’s Journey entries and their post-watch ratings and notes.

You can delete your whole account from the same page. Deleting the account removes, from the live service, your sign-in, your parent profile, every child profile, all Journey entries, all post-watch ratings and notes, and any title suggestions linked to your account.

Deletion from the live service is not the same as erasure from every system that holds a copy. Our infrastructure providers keep routine backups and operational logs on their own schedules, and copies of deleted information can remain in those backups and logs until they age out under the provider’s arrangements. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups. If you need the retention arrangements that apply in writing, write to us and we will tell you what is in place at the time you ask.
