Why It’s Worth Watching
Because of Winn-Dixie uses a girl's relationship with a stray dog to connect loneliness, friendship, community, forgiveness, and a strained parent-child relationship. As Opal meets people who initially seem odd or distant, she learns that listening to their histories reveals grief and needs that are not visible from the outside.
